Your Newest Option and Freshest Food

Hello Alamo!

Do you miss the farmers’ market yet? I miss the farmers’ market!

You probably especially miss it if you’re used to getting your weekly fix to feed you and your family. Luckily some vendors, like SquyreStudio Microfarm, are still selling off smaller batches of their produce until mid-November.

If you’re still hoping to get your hands on fresh fruits and veggies throughout the season, I was informed of another option: Your Freshest Foods.

A family business for 15 years, Your Freshest Food got its start when owner Kara Lanctot realized she had sent her son back to their home state of Colorado a few too many times without much to show for it. There was interest in the local produce he could find there, and there was plenty of need for especially fresh fruits in the smaller towns of then-Oklahoma and now-New Mexico, thus a business idea formed.

Your Freshest Food has several routes throughout parts of New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. You may go to their website and order a mixed produce basket, milk, sometimes honey, etc. Along with your order confirmation, you will receive a text with a pickup time and location. You can pay upon delivery with cash or check, however orders of $100+ are strongly encouraged to be pre-paid.

Because of increasing costs to drive out their refrigerated trucks, some routes have had to be skipped if there were less than 3 orders in the past. Currently, until maintenance is done, they are driving the routes with a smaller vehicle so it’s less of an issue.

How lucky are we to have so much access to fresh fruits and vegetables in this tiny community?

Salud!
