Tis The Season

Hello Alamo!

I’ve only been able to muster up enough to write about upcoming events, but I promise I do have some things in the works.

I will always implore you to keep your purchasing power in the local economy, but it’s a little bit more (directly) personal now.

My friend Wednesday, who I’ve mentioned on here a few times in the past, is starting up a small business! It is called Knotty By Nature, and her first official time selling product in Alamogordo will be tomorrow at the Christmas Craft and Vendor Fair at the mall. Yours truly will be helping table.

In fact, despite wanting to make it out several times over the years, this will be my first time going to a craft fair at this venue, and I’m very excited to see what else the community has to offer. I can get the bulk of my shopping done in one day!

The craft fair is scheduled from 10am to 4pm. Please come see us; she is an insanely talented crocheter.

Directly after the fair, at 4pm, the newly renovated downtown area on New York Ave. is putting on its second event since opening. Per tradition, tomorrow evening is Christmas on Mainstreet, complete with caroling, dancers, hot cocoa, pageants, contests, and more.

However, this year’s theme is “Christmas around the World,” and each shop will be decorated in the yuletide tradition of different locations. For example, Rocket City Gaming Lounge is taking on Hogwarts at Christmastime, Zia Comics will imitate the planet Coruscant, Infinity Sweets will be decked out a la France (with my macarons), and Elite Memories Boutique will be styled as Mexico.

Christmas on Mainstreet happens to be an event my mom and I really enjoy checking out every year, and I’m so looking forward to experiencing the new and improved (and ADA-compliant!) Downtown.

I’ll see you all out there!

Salud!
