Lasting Impact

Hard work at a Monday open volunteer day, FB

Hello Alamo!

I hope you were able to avoid the flash flooding, and actually enjoy the rain.

By now, I’m sure we can all see how the farm and the market and the grant all partially depend on each other. It’s such a great cause, it’s so important, and I will do everything I can to help protect these intersecting parts.

Today I have the pleasure of presenting you with a small way you can help protect it too.

There will be a film crew at the upcoming farmers’ market Saturday, October 3rd.

The organizers, farmers, and With Many Hands can do incredible things for this community (and they absolutely do), but it’s kind of unfortunately way more impactful with more eyes on it. Media coverage is vital to their well-being. That’s why journalists do what they do. That’s why I do what I do. People need to be informed about the things happening around them. And in this case, it’s not just the community.

The feature will highlight our amazing little market across the whole state of New Mexico.

I’ve heard from so many people who would love to get involved, get to know their neighbors, and meet their local farmers who just haven’t been able to carve out any time in their busy schedules this season.

You still have a few weeks to try to make it out (closing day is October 24th!), but more importantly, *please* try to be there this weekend. Being able to show the state how much this community cares about access to local food and a better local economy is huge.

You can just come and check it out, chat with the vendors, enjoy the likely cloudy day (I’m trying to manifest it), enjoy your community, and buy some produce if budget permits. This is all a part of supporting these intersecting resources and making sure Alamogordo has access to them in the years to come. I will absolutely be there, and I hope to meet you!

Alamogordo Farmers’ Market at Washington Park is from 10am-noon, on the corner of 1st St. and Dale Scott Ave. this Saturday.

Salud!!
