Hello Alamo; long time no talk!
I’ve been trying to plan out posts and it just hasn’t gone my way. I apologize for that.
However, last weekend, yours truly made it out to the artspace for the Abstract Exhibition reception.
Otero Artspace Board Vice President Janet Amtmann remarked during her speech that she wasn’t sure how many pieces they would get when they first put out the call for art submissions, but the community definitely showed up.
Ranging from oils and cold wax to tissue paper and fiber arts, over 2 dozen local artists entered their artwork for the community to enjoy and potentially purchase.
I didn’t really get the chance to interview viewers about their reactions to these pieces at the event, but personally I got a little twinge.
I actually really enjoy painting and especially mixing/shading colors, though the last tutorial I followed was probably 2ish years ago. Personally, looking at the different brushwork and particularly the textures, I did feel pretty inspired to pick up the ol’ paintbrush and make some happy little mistakes again.
I know this one is short, but it’s meant to lead into a part 2 and probably 3.
The exhibit will be open to the public on Thursdays through Saturdays, 1pm-4pm, until September 28th.
Until next time,
Salud!
