Hello Alamo!
I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with another post-length rant about why you should go to the farmer’s market starting this weekend, but I think at this point, I’ve said all I can to guide you to it. All that’s left is to ask that you see how valuable your own voice is. Please spread the news as far and wide as you can. Together we can make sure our community is taken care of.
I would also like to point out that this weekend, Rebel Theater has their second show, Broadway: No Rules. Tickets are not free, and I prefer to highlight free events on this blog, but this is a troupe that really deserves our support. They serve an undervalued (to most) community function.
The basic necessity of nutrient-dense food may not be a 1-to-1 to some people, but I would like to argue that sustenance and joy are equally important.
Finding things in life to take joy in is very difficult. It has been for me lately, that’s why I’ve stepped back a bit from this blog. But that work is one of the most important things we can do. Sometimes the point of life is to just survive it, but the other huge point is to enjoy our human experiences.
Rebel Theater spawned from a need to give actors more opportunities beyond the 2 performances a year available to them currently with Alamogordo Music Theater.
Broadway: No Rules allows actors to bend the traditional rules of Broadway. The most common example of this is gender-bending a role, like a female Phantom or a male Trunchbul a la Matilda.
This company has now done this show twice. It’s fun seeing what an actor can do to reinvigorate a role. It’s freeing consuming art that brings us closer to our own humanity instead of being another avenue calling us to conform in ways that have never fit our lives.
It’s exactly what I need right now.
Broadway: No Rules will be showing 4 times this weekend. Tickets are available here.

Salud!
